No one hear will want to hear this, but I agree.

I have aged much better than my mother at my age, and also avoided the middle age weight gain she experienced, and I honestly think it's because I go to therapy and learned to process feelings. I know that sounds new agey, but I saw up close how stress, emotional repression, probably unprocessed trauma, all impacted my mom's health, weight, and specifically her relationship to both food and exercise. I think I've avoided it because I have better mental health and that makes eating decently and getting exercise a lot more straightforward (and maybe more effective?) for me.[/quote]

i don't think it's that new age-y. stress is inflammatory (you release cytokines, cortisol goes up, etc). these things affect our appearance, such as enhancing collagen degradation.
