We are thrilled at BRYC. The coaching our son is getting is 20 times better than at his old club. And to be clear - he was on a VERY good, high level team. What is it that some of you are wanting for your kids? Is it to collect a bunch of U14 tournament championship trophies so they can collect dust in the basement while you sit in the bar bragging about it? Or is it for your kid to develop as a player and person while having some fun? Who cares if the team goes 5-12? This was the best fit for our kid, and he had five other offers for top teams in the DMV area, including Alexandria. One club, Bethesda, offered him without him even showing up at tryouts. BRYC was the best fit for us. Take your bashing elsewhere, loser - and I'm pretty sure it is one or a couple bitter souls who continue to post garbage.
“Bethesda offered him without him even showing up at tryouts”? Nice try. If you’re a second or third teamer looking for first team action, bryc.
First team to first team. Keep hating. That's the easy, lazy route.
Right…oh you look like a great player (before tryouts). We’re going to offer you a first team spot due to how you look. You look like you’re a baller…thanks but no thanks. I’m going to bryc bc we don’t want any trophies or wins.
If your kid is a standout and has played in the DMV area for 3 years or more, the coaches know who your kid's ability because they've seen it on the field in games, clinics, summer leagues, winter futsal programs, etc. Bethesda is not the only team to offer a kid without a formal tryout, and this kid is not the only kid to receive such an offer. I'm sorry you have no idea how that works. It shows that your kid is not on the radar. But, more importantly, hope your kid focuses on having fun and learning life lessons through the game.
I wouldn’t consider ecnl a place for “standouts”. Maybe for the girls as I understand this is the top league for girls but not for boys.
I'm not sure what your definition of "standout" is, but there are plenty of (greater than 10) kids on ECNL teams in northern virginia this year who have received offers from MLS (MLS, not MLS Next) clubs for next year.
