The Paragon club is very well-coached by former D1 and MLS professional players. Paragon admin has made accommodations to meet the financial needs. No poaching occurred from Benfica. True, the players adored one of the Benfica coaches. However, Benfica administration was not willing to let players guest play at their age level in college showcases on other teams – despite the fact that there wasn't conflict in MSYSA or USYS guidelines. The move players decided to make had more to do with college preparation than anything. Benfica, as a program, just didnt have the experience or the understanding of US college sports to provide the guidance or preparation for players. And the program was structured to feed European leagues vs US colleges.
