No, I do not live under a rock. Arlington is hardly a "major school system"; it is the smallest county in the US. But you have just proved the point. This is the equivalent of corporate boards setting a CEO's salary based on what other CEOs make rather than value-added. Arlington spends stupid-money on stupid-things to pretend it is "world-class." And, meanwhile, our children receive no education.[/quote]

You’re barking up the wrong tree.  This is not unique to APS.  Many superintendents have this.  It doesn’t bother me in the least.  If you’re worried about cost… think about what his time is actually worth.  He doesn’t need to spend it driving.  I have no doubts that he is going all day, every day- and evenings, too.[/quote]

+1. Complaining about this is complete nonsense (and I’m a teacher who often has to park 2 blocks away in a normal school year) Car allowances are a common part of compensation packages and easier accounting than mileage reimbursement. [/quote]

Seriously??!?!? NO - he completely mishandled the pandemic. There is absolutely zero reason our kids have not been in class more than 2 days/week for the past several weeks. Duran took the easy road. He also DOES NOT COMMUNICATE!!  Parents wanted communication throughout this and he just sent emails, made his statements, and provided zero dialogue to many that wanted it. Shutting people down, not responding, etc - He's a TERRIBLE leader[/quote]

His communication was one-way.. He refused to have dialogue with parents. I personally sent him emails, never received one response. This is not communicating.. He made statements.[/quote]

I personally sent him emails, some of which were ignored and some of which were responded to directly by him or his CoS. I just don’t think he’s that into you. Sorry. [/quote]
