No did not - but OP if it makes you feel better - i only just received flowers from our post grad son yesterday! I took a photo of them and sent them to him to thank him personally. Our teen made me a lovely poem. Definitely not putting that on social media. It feels a bit tricky to find the right balance - honor a very important role for many of us, be sensitive to others who have lost loved ones or whose children are struggling, and to not get carried away with hallmark card commercialism.
Hi there- this is OP. Thanks for sharing and your children sound like sweet, loving people! You summed up what I was thinking about very succinctly- does the joy of this exclusive “holiday” hurt a some people who may be quietly suffering? I’ve read these comments and lots of people seem to be saying, “who cares”. I have a small group of contacts on social media, people I know, and I definitely do care about their feelings and I don’t want to come off as an insensitive jerk! There are lots of articles and essays on this aspect of Mother’s Day now. Before I had my kids I remember feeling distressed when I saw pregnant women because I was so so wanting to be a mom myself. Maybe I’m projecting empathy to my pre-kids self. Ok now we can get on to the braggy graduation and summer vacation photos! 😂
