Hi there- this is OP. Thanks for sharing and your children sound like sweet, loving people! You summed up what I was thinking about very succinctly- does the joy of this exclusive “holiday” hurt a some people who may be quietly suffering?  I’ve read these comments and lots of people seem to be saying, “who cares”. I have a small group of contacts on social media, people I know, and I definitely do care about their feelings and I don’t want to come off as an insensitive jerk!

There are lots of articles and essays on this aspect of Mother’s Day now. Before I had my kids I remember feeling distressed when I saw pregnant women because I was so so wanting to be a mom myself. Maybe I’m projecting empathy  to my pre-kids self.
