He decided he was done with Arlington politics when it became clear that Arlington voters as a whole have no real interest in a balance to the otherwise unchecked power of the Arlington Democrats.  He got into office on a particular wedge issue and then worked really hard to address issues Arlington voters said they cared about.  Nevertheless, he was voted out on a straight party-line vote in favor of someone with virtually no credentials.

Kadera has the support of the Arlington Democrats machine, so she will win the caucus and then the general election.  And Arlington voters will get the same as they’ve always gotten.[/quote]

Do you really think that Miranda is such a change agent? Sure, she’ll ask tough questions. I think Mary will, too, and actually has the educational and APS background to be able to pose thoughtful and relevant ones across a broad range of subjects. Maybe Miranda will push for a vote. Why is everyone hung up on that so much? I think it’s clear that even if a vote had been held once or even multiple times in this last year, the SB would have supported Duran’s plan for APS. So why do you think it’s so necessary to have had the vote(s)? If it’s because you can then hold them accountable based on their votes, you can make that same assessment based on their comments and questions throughout this period. I seriously see nothing that Miranda brings to the table that is better or more well-developed than Mary.
