All of the Virginia public schools except UVA, W&M, and VT. Most of the Virginia privates except W&L and Richmond. Most of the Maryland publics except College Park. Most of the privates except Hopkins. Probably none of the DC privates. Most of the NC publics except Chapel Hill. The people here sometimes act like there are only a handful of schools, but your kid has plenty of solid options.
Except JMU and CNU, according to pp with similar stats and recent experience.
I have a kid with similar stats and recent experience is she got in both. I think that range is very much "on the bubble" so it's still worth applying.
I'm the PP with the son that was rejected at both. My son wasn't even interested in CNU, but they called him multiple times, sent him several letters, encouraging him to apply early decision...then they rejected him. He has an older brother too, so we know about all the mailings that colleges send out, even if they have no intention of accepting you, to try and get their stats up--but these phone calls and mailings went way beyond that so it was actually very surprising when he was rejected. Thankfully, he wasn't "crushed" since CNU wasn't really even on his radar until they "harassed" him anyway, but just kind of a "WTH?"
That was very uncool of them. Glad your son wasn't upset.
