Even for people who know what to do with it and have the means, the products and treatments here have improved. For example, the Japanese hair straightening wasn't even available in the USA when Chelsea was younger. Now you can get it in any major city.
OMG stop with the chemical straightener assumptions. I had similar hair as Chelsea’s when I was a kid. My mom was no help and my hair was always poofy abd frizzy. I tried all the straightners, relaxers, keratin etc but none of it worked very well because you still need to take care of curly hair appropriately. It’s not the same as straight hair. When I learned how to care for my hair I didn’t need those treatments anymore. Now all I do is use coconut oil after washing and I put it in a braid when I go to sleep. In the morning I touch up my hairline and any parts that have a bad braid mark—it takes 5 to 10 minutes—and that’s it!
