State tournaments should be something all teams do no matter the league. At least through U15. I understand older kids trying to be on the best teams and getting noticed, other leagues' showcases taking precidence and the like, but it's your state. Bring your best and let's see how good you are. Might be one and done or you may get to claim the title. To be the best you have to beat the best. If you think you are already the best then show it. Random flighted tournaments don't give you that.
100% agree. Well done all the clubs that enter - and shame on those that don't.
Plus if Arlington can enter its teams - including the ones above U15, I fail to see that any other club has a good reason not to.
Not sure if you saw the earlier post that explains that clubs like Arlington that’ have their top tram in ECNL can only enter stare cup by also signing up their teams to play in a second league, like EDP, which means that those teams are playing constantly between ECNL and EDP, plus state cup games. Usually, it’s the teams that have big rosters that can do that, otherwise you are looking at injuries that teams with smaller rosters can’t afford.
I don't believe this is true. I think it is possible to apply and pay for the USYS player cards for a team without entering EDP or any other afiliated league. McLean does indeed enter at least some of its teams into EDP as well as ECNL - although I suspect they did that this year because of covid and uncertainty of how many agmes they might get from either league + the huge rosters they have for their teams means they need more games to get their players playing time as well. Arlington did not enter most of its teams into EDP. Or at least they did not play any games, nor did they ever appear in the schedule / standings for EDP.
