Public.  DE is dual enrollment (community college classes). The GPA was at time of application (so after Jr year). DE courses don't get weighted. Normal ECs. Friends with similar stats had similar admission results. Got 5k per year merit awards at schools other than Maryland. [/quote]

This is not true. Applying for an LEP does not make getting into Maryland any harder. Kids are first admitted into Maryland and only then are they considered for admission into the LEP for which they applied. Your son didn’t get in for regular admission because his GPA wasn’t high enough. I have been through this process many times at Maryland so I know.
