Just Stop.  My kids don’t  attend but these results should make the students and the school
proud.  We should all celebrate the fact that there is another city wide option in which motivated kids can succeed.  All families can’t move to neighborhoods with high performing public schools.  Likewise, most families cannot afford private.  It feels great to know that there is another free option available to kids from all over the city.  I am cheering you on DCI!!  Way to go Class of 2021!  This DC resident is proud of you!

But anyone can enter the lottery.  The only preference that applies is sibling preference.  So yes, that makes it a very real option for hundreds of families every year.  The point is that when we have additional options on the table, we all win.  Instead of posting snarky comments meant to belittle the accomplishments of the kids who attend these schools, the “ adults in the room” should be encouraging and supporting their success.  DCI is not a good fit for every kid (no school is), but I am so pleased that it, warts and all, is working very well for families with graduates in the 2021 class. The acceptances and parent feedback demonstrate that. I hope that future classes enjoy the same type of success.  Thanks for sharing the good news!

To DCI or the feeders? Because no, the feeders get their allotted slots and the only ones open in the general lottery are those not taken by the feeders. Which is mostly just Chinese, never Spanish. It has feeders and works differently than Latin or Basis.[/quote]

That’s fine, but church the lottery data. It’s not truly “another option” with only sibling preference for anything other than Chinese. Like has been said, there are only enough seats for 60% or so of kids coming from feeder schools, let alone anyone in the regular lottery. [/quote]
