Looks like the level of competition is high. In this region Bethesda, SYC and Alexandria are playing against Philly Union Academy , New York Red Bulls Academy , PA Classics Academy, FC Delco and other Northern teams along with competitions against each other. Looks like a lot of traveling up North.
Thanks. This is what I was looking for. Hard pass. We do not want that kind of driving for games in 8th grade.
the 2007 SYC and Alexandria teams will drop the MLS Next for next year. They will go back to EDP.
Is this confirmed? I heard that they would remain.
Lets assume it is confirmed since they are running 07 tryouts. Would any 07 players leave an ECNL team for a MLS next team, knowing they might only play in that league for 1 year ? Would the ECNL team take the player back after that ?
The clubs will argue that they will be given one additional age group every year., allowing the players to play MLSNext all the way to college. For those knowing McLean, Loudoun, and Arlington's experience with DA, it might be a hard sell...
Arlington succeeded although it took a lot of effort and the league folded literally weeks after they had been told they had succeeded. McLean did not. Loudoun might have done except for DCU moving in next door. But I think SYC/Achilles/Alexandria have not been promised even that possibility. DCU has a huge amount of influence over what happens locally - and reading between the lines I'm not at all sure DCU wants anything other than feeder clubs at the younger ages. They want the best kids at U15 for themselves. And since they won't invest in their own youth program, they can't afford to have competition. Perhaps I am wrong. I hope so.
