So she was lying.
Laurie Lane came across very aggressive, disingenuous and a liar. She didn’t represent Potomac Soccer well at all. While nothing might have changed MoCo’s vote, having her speak was detrimental in getting the rules changed. I think she also damaged Potomac’s reputation.
Nothing she said was incorrect. All of her points were totally accurate. Moco politicians are pathetic
Laurie’s approach and tact is completely wrong. Everyone knows/recognizes that MoCo leadership (Exec/Council) is extremely risk adverse. They completely side within COVID risks instead of the business risk. Hence, by saying that MoCo & hotels will loose over 5000 hotel rooms revenue doesn’t mean anything to them. It actually scares them more about the COVID spread from overcrowding hotels and surrounding restaurants from this tournament. Secondly, she should know better than trying to bully or force politicians in a public forum. Her approach should have been what Potomac will do to not only meet CDC’s recommendations but how it will exceed it. Potomac can work with a travel agent to spread the use of all MoCo hotels so that no hotel will be overcrowded. Implement a plan to verify COVID vaccinations, on the spot temperature checks, rapid COVID testing, contact tracing. Each team is required to have 1-2 adults that will be responsible for ensuring that everyone (players and parents) abide by the rules otherwise the team would be immediately ejected from the tournament. I can go on and on. While what I said might not change MoCo’s vote, Laurie’s approach was the surefire to get the rejection from MoCo.
+1. I agree. Don’t forget that MoCo is county that is home to the FDA, NIH, and countless Pharmaceutical companies including COVID makers Novavax & Emergent.
