The kids are unable to be vaccinated for the time being so they still can get Covid via SIL or whomever. I am not understanding why you are concerned about the SIL. She is just one unvaccinated person among many.
Exactly- unless you don’t want to have your kids playing around other kids, go to in-person school (I’m in HR for a school and only 50% of our teachers/staff plan to get vaccinated), go to doctor’s appointments (surveys show ~30% of health workers aren’t getting vaccinated), etc. for the next few years you’re going to need to get used to being around unvaccinated people. Personally, now that DH and I are vaccinated, I’d rather risk my kids getting Covid (which is not a big deal for them 99.9% of the time) than destroy important relationships with family and friends.
