The irony is she didn't get all caught up in the college pressure game. She did take practice test for ACT, took it once in 10th grade and submitted scores (34). Never took SAT but did well for (commended) award on PSAT. We never paid for tutoring and have zero connections. She is female, white, stem hopeful but not first gen or any other factors (except female may have helped). Not a poor family but not super wealthy. Our home is 1300 square feet in a wealthy suburb to give you an idea of income.

Honestly, no idea why she was selected over some of the others. Maybe being genuine was a boost. Her essays were fine but not near the quality of some students.They weren't super polished.

I was more shocked than her. I always assumed you had to have cured cancer to get in.
