My DS is a 2012 and has played all these teams. Right now, SYC Blue and Bethesda's top team are just miles ahead of everyone else in the 2012 group. A lot of it stems from the fact that they played 7v7 as U8s before COVID hit. They are very good but just a lot further along in patterns of play. It'll take a couple years but other clubs will catch up and beat them. Both squads do have some really good players however. Very sound and technical. Folks need to brush this off. Huge blowouts happen at this age. It's not what you should be focused on but on your child's individual development. And yes, my DS team has lost to both clubs badly.
My DS is on the same boat with losing badly to both of them early in the season as well. His teammates were impressed by how good they were but their esteem wasn't hurt by the blowout. I can tell you that they were excited to play and have been working hard to improve. Having a good coach matters. My DS and team have improved and would probably still lose to them. It's U9, I'm not worried. My DS is improving and that's all that matters.
Interesting that SYC 2012 is playing on age in the upcoming Arlington tournament but Bethesda 2012 is playing up (and in the top group): https://events.gotsport.com/events/default.aspx?eventid=80113 When will these two u-little juggernauts meet to decide 2012 supremacy once and for all?
