My daughter was always between 95th and 99th percentile in height in early years. 50% for weight. Never changed. She's now 13 and 5' 9" and about 100 pounds. New cleats every season (now size 11). Don't know where the height came from.
Was she always 50 points different between height and weight? My kindergartener is proportionate (always a few points lower for weight than height), but somehow that puts her in the overweight category, which is a known issue with BMI calculations at the very top and bottom of the charts. She looks great to me, but less beanpole-like than some other girls her age.
Yeah, she's always been that ratio. She's the bean pole :) I'm pretty sure her legs go all the way up to her armpits. She is tall and skinny... runs like the wind but always looked like a newborn dear when finding her speed. I've coached girls of every height and weight... there is no correct ratio. Just keep her active and happy and things will work themselves out. Kindergarten is no time to start worrying.... keep a healthy diet and routine and things will play out as they should. And by healthy diet, I mean burgers, veggies and ice cream. :) Just be mindful of moderation. Lots of growth at that age. Find a good balance, but don't let food become a crutch. Good luck!
