HHI is more commercialized than Kiawah/Seabrook but not like MD, DE, NJ, VA beaches. More options for food, grocery, shopping, etc. Water on Hilton Head tends to be a lot shallower and calmer than Kiawah. You are only a short drive from Savannah so you can still get a bit history if you want. I wouldn’t do it this year but you can also fly, which you can’t do to Kiawah.
You can fly to charleston, sc and drive 40 mins to Kiawah.
Best case it’s 45, typically hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. Again, you can land directly on Hilton Head, and be pretty much anywhere on island in 10-15 minutes with some options you could practically walk to from airport.
NP. I've been flying to Charleston for a dozen summers and it has never taken me that long to get to Kiawah. Usually 45-50 minutes.
Ok, and I do the flight and drive more frequently than you. It is typically about an hour to hour and fifteen, door to door. Have no reason to make it up. You can also fly to Hilton Head Savannah Airport and drive roughly an hour to HHI. Again it is nice to just land on HHI and be there.
Google maps has the drive at 51 minutes and Waze clocks it at 45. Maybe you are driving really far into the island past the gate?
