This actually happened on our school playground.  I know both of these kids.  They are in 2nd grade.  And already, Kid #2 - through the absence of discussion of how families come in forms - has developed bigoted, outdated ideas that won't serve them well in later life.  It isn't Kid #2's fault, but his parents.

The idea that you need to explain what body parts are going where to have a conversation about acceptance is just a ludicrous, stupid excuse to continue bigoted exclusion.   (And why anyone would care what two consenting adults' body parts are doing, anyway, is beyond me).  And history is totally against the bigots on this one: 25 years from now, every state and most countries will allow gay marriage.  Because, thankfully, human nature favors love and acceptance over hatred and narrowmindedness.
