My family was never really loving, but all are now. My half siblings are super into texting and sending silly HB songs and short videos and “love yous”.  No one sends me a gift, because they think that I am “so rich”. I’ve been married 25 years and My in-laws on the other hand, call and send a card EVERY year. (Anniversary and Mother’s Day too). Early in our marriage my MIL baked me a cake as a surprise when we were visiting and it brought me to tears. (In 30 years no one had ever baked me a birthday cake,) When we lived closer to them we went out to dinner together every year on DH birthday. Their family is like this though - Dh grandmother sent each of her 20 grandkids $5 on their birthday every year, before she passed away. It was funny to DH at age 40 to get $5 in the mail. He said his granny didn’t get inflation)
