They picked the date 1/6 because Trump told them and that's the day Congress meets to finalize the election results. They believe that because a few Congresspeople are objecting, that this will change the outcome. Their main concern violence-wise is Antifa. If counter-protestors stay away, then the police can do their job and I think things will be largely OK. The only flash point I see is they will try to enter BLM Plaza, as they did last time. Last time, police were generally able to hold them back.

Also I think the turnout this time will be less than in the past, because it's on a weekday and people have to work. A lot of these people are armchair Trump supporters, and they're not going to take off a day of work for this.[/quote]
