It's so white, but they are Mormons in Utah... Also, there are lots of closeted gay men in that world and might her husband be one of them?
My first thought was the husband is gay.
I came here to see if anyone else noticed this. The vibe between them is more like he’s the best gay friend. It was difficult to watch because it’s so obvious that he irritates her for reasons unknown to the viewers. I think she had some great designs but she is definitely held back by the man she is married too. He seemed lazy tbh. I would love to see them do the show without the husband because I think it greatly impacted the quality. I didn’t mind the all white cast or the high budgets of the participants. It’s representative of that market so it shouldn’t be that shocking, but ultimately the show could remain viable if they cut the husband. I actually liked Shea and thought she did a great job delivering what her customers wanted. I do wish that she took more design risks though. Does anyone know of any Netflix or Hulu shows that are serious about design? I feel like I’ve watched pretty much every one but would love to hear what everyone else’s favorites are.
I rolled my eyes at this, but then I watched the show, and I have to agree. They clearly wanted him there so there would be someone for her to banter with, but the chemistry is very awkward and he really doesn’t add anything. I like Room to Improve on Prime. It features an architect that does home renovations in Ireland, so it has a different sensibility than the US shows, which are starting to all look alike to me.
not that pp but the one who is missing John from Curb Appeal. THANK YOU! I will check out Room to Improve!
NP here. Any other shows to recommend? Or blogs or podcasts? So far, we have Room to Improve and Design Doctors.
