What is hilarious and sad at the same time is that there are so many "enlightened liberals" who write off entire states and regions based on some aspects of politics. You assume a place will be closed-minded and bigoted based on....your lack of direct knowledge and experience of it! Agreed.  My DC is at Illinois and exposure to ppl with different views and backgrounds than in MoCo is one of the values of going OOS.[/quote]

A lot of kids from the DC area would learn more from humble, hardworking white kids from the Midwest than they would from entitled kids of any color from the DMV, but it’s not PC to acknowledge. [/quote]

Perhaps, but my kid also appreciates that Illinois is not “white, white, white.”  It’s more diverse than you would expect.[/quote]
