Jrs 2 is cut down to 90 minutes. Advanced Jr is only 2.25 hour in the week. Those are not enough practice for advanced swimmers that usual get 7.
Well, if your child is that advanced, why don't you move to a different club, find a private facility, or move to a different part of the country.
That's more than we are getting. All kids should get the same amount. Regular kids cannot ever catch up or move ahead as they swim much less. Private groups are 2-4 times the cost. many of us cannot afford that. Any suggestions on affordable groups swimming a few times a week?
"Fair" is not 50 minutes a week for some groups and 2.25 hours for others. The prices are not that different.
I have two swimmers, one that is competitive and the other isn’t. Every Advanced and NDG/Select/NTG had the same amount of access to the pool during the early years of training. Yes, your child can move forward with the amount of practice time provided. If my advanced swimmer started out training 5-6 times per week, he would’ve burned out. The reduced amount of time isn’t a RMSC issue, it’s a county one as a result of a pandemic. Start writing emails to the county council members if you would like more pool time or... find a cure to covid.
The cure for covid is people stop traveling, eating out and socializing but that's not going to happen. The advanced group swim 1-2 times a week more in juniors than the regular. Mine gladly will swim 5-6 days a week and at times we've supplemented elsewhere to get the practices in. Yours may not do well with more but some of our kids do better and enjoy more.
How old is your child? What swim group is s/he in?
