Please just go through insurance. If you have saved text messages or emails, send them to her insurance company too (just screenshot and email the adjuster). They will also cover your rental since their driver is at fault. But send the evidence b/c your coworker seems shady and may deny it. It's probably more than $850 and her mechanic is going to do a crappy job. You need this documented, esp if you have a newer car with newer materials and/or sensors, since those add up fast. You tried to work though it w/ coworker, but the fact that she is fighting the rental cost and questioning HER mechanic's (likely lowball) estimate is ludicrous and shows she's not working in good faith. Call her insurance and be done with it. [/quote]
