I really truly wonder how many parents who refuse to accept the situation are white. BIPOC parents care that our children are statistically more likely to be affected. I am not sure white parents care.
This. How many are coming from a place of privilege? 75% of people in ward 7/8 are obese. This virus predominantly kills people of color. The most affected areas are people of color. Regardless if everyone DIES from Covid-19, is it ethical to allow someone who has a higher risk to risk getting Covid even if they’ll survive?
White person here living in a predominantly black/ Latino ward. While I’m sure there’s plenty of white folk in upper NW who have an attitude of exceptionalism and don’t think they can catch the virus in their affluent bubble, there’s a ton of people in my neighborhood not social distancing or wearing masks who are also not at work. They’re partying or hanging or whatever and yeah they’re obese too. Sorry, I know calling this out doesn’t fit the SJW narrative but let’s be real. In my ward it’s not White people at the pick up basketball or soccer games. It’s not the white people hanging out in large groups in the alleys and on the corners. It’s not the grocery store workers or UPS guys either.
