Such an ignorant comment. My kid loves the sport. It is high paced, technical and very competitive. You can tell who plays futsal during the outdoor offseason and who doesnt. Its obvious.

If so then why bother with any organized coached sport. You can simply send your kid to the "Y" for some pick up basketball, soccer, football and we should expect technical growth on par with other paid options.

Seriously man watch a competitive futsal game and tell me its dumb or you can learn those skills at the "Y". If you think so after watching it you just need to go back to your recliner and binge all day NFL on Sundays as its likely you do already. You know nothing about the sport

They are pretty damned good at futsal, so you can either believe somebody who obviously cannot put enough steaks in the freezer and resents the ASA ED (probably initials that our crazy poster is very familiar with), or you can look at the results of the program in futsal alone, which for a soccer club like Alexandria (as opposed to futsal clubs, which tend to draw DA and ECNL players in the offseason), is pretty f'n good.

Actually, Alexandria’s ED gets financial gain. Over the years he has gotten a percentage of the revenues from the futsal program. I guess this is why they tell the kids and parents that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. [/quote]

Well it might be one of the reasons.  Futsal is good training for soccer though - so he is at least telling the truth for financial gain, which is better than telling lies for financial gain like politicians and Wall St. do.[/quote][/quote]

I guess it’s too much to ask for some honesty among clubs. I wonder if Alexandria city council knows they approved the futsal court conversions for a private individual’s benefit. Seems like public monies should go to something other than enriching a single individual. [/quote]

Are you that stupid that you think Alexandria Soccer just marched onto tired old tennis courts. Cleaned them up. Lined them out and installed goals.  Then started league play and ...

How about this is what actually happened.   Alexandria Soccer came up with the idea to repurpose tired old unused tennis courts throughout the community.   Alexandria City supported the effort and with joint support some additional funding they did so.   The local community kids have benefitted tremendously as now you can see the space being used daily instead of overgrown with weeds and broken down tennis nets.   By the way, Alexandria Soccer doesnt use the outdoor courts for Futsal league play.   They use indoor facilities throughout the area.   
Before you go claiming I am Tommy Park or some other ALexandria Soccer higher up, I'm not.  Just a parent that has a kid that has grown with the club and the sport.  I've seen them develop the courts and grow the program.  At no time did revenue get generated from the repurposed courts.   Occasionally practices are held on some of them.   Once the weather turns it all goes inside.
