Most observers say four candidates — Marcus Goodwin, Christina Henderson, Ed Lazere and Vincent B. Orange Sr. — are best positioned because of their higher profiles.
I don't know much about him but I'd say about 90% of candidate signs in my Ward 4 neighborhood are for Marcus Goodwin.
Almost like big money is betting on him 🤔
What is Goodwin's story, beyond being a developer? I feel like I've seen his name on various yard signs for years in the last few elections. What stopped him from winning before?
I sat on a call with Marcus Goodwin. I did NOT like him. He seemed too young and inexperienced. He didn't really know what he was talking about. Not impressed. I know lots of folks in my Ward 4 neighborhood are supporting him. He must be in with the Mayor. It seems like they follow whatever she wants.
I'm the Ward 4 PP that also is seeing a lot of signs for him. I wonder about this. It does seem many homes that had Todd signs now have his signs. If I voted for Janeese Lewis George, who among the at-large candidates should get my vote? I like Robert White well enough. I haven't looked into the other candidates' resumes yet.
Janeese endorsed Ed Lazere and Robert White FWIW
PP here, thanks! I'll look more into Lazere (I heard him him call into the Kojo show a few weeks ago and he seemed reasonable, but need to look at his resume).
I talked to him once and he was really knowledgeable on the issues - very deep understanding and I believe he's ethical too. Not as charismatic as Janeese, but I could see him being a force for good in the council.
I went to grad school with Ed and just have a ton of respect for him. He's a little too progressive for me on some issues, but I have no doubt that he can be reasoned with.
I know that feeling. But things that felt like "too progressive" are things that I came to realize were in the right direction. Like Janeese talking about reducing crime by funding things other than police.
Exactly! We need fewer police, and more violence interrupters
