I agree with the PP who said it matters where the household money comes from. If OP is putting her whole income into joint expenses and DH is holding his back, that's not ok. If OP doesn't work, that's a different story.[/quote]

This. Money is tight so it's a jerky thing for her husband to spend money on splurges for himself. It doesn't matter if he sold his own stuff. Income should be prioritized together for the family.[/quote]

Disagree. Both OP and her DH should be looking at ways to earn income and cut back on the budget. This was a revenue stream to be used for the good of the family. Also what if her DH has tons of stuff based on a history of splurging on himself and OP doesn't have a ton of stuff to sell because she was more restrained in spending on herself? So her DH gets to continue being selfish because he has a bigger inventory of stuff? It sounds like it's past time for her DH to prioritize the good of the family above his own desires.[/quote]
