OP’s post made me think about all the people who celebrates Christmas during wars, plagues, economic depression. Read Little House on the Prairie, Or Little Women. And wasn’t Thanksgiving basically started to give thanks for having survived a truly horrific year of illness and starvation (check out Linus’s retelling from Peanuts!).
