The thing is, even if you trust your teammates, many (most?) folks with COVID are asymptomatic so parents could be sending their kids to practice in good faith while unknowingly, potentially, help to spread the virus. That being said it's all about your risk tolerance level. Our club is taking high risk mitigation measures with regards to distances, coaches wearing masks etc. etc. Is it as safe as locking yourself in your room, probably not, but it's about as safe as going outside, or perhaps to a grocery store. Bottom line, if you don't think it's safe for your child at this time to participate, just don't go. It's not hard. If you coach is a dick and punishes your child for it - maybe sh/she isn't right for you, there are lots of options out there.
The question isn't about whether or not there is risk attending practice. Most grounded people accept that, I think the question of trust comes in when you may have a parent or two on the team who feel that there is little to no risk and are living their lives to that standard. That kind of behavior significantly increases the risk for the rest of the team. These are the parents who want everything open but drag their feet on abiding by social distancing practices that, even if nothing more than symbolic in their minds, would go a long ways to being team players in this.
