The Susie sunshine’s are worse than the Debbie downers! The odds of either a natural first time pregnancy are tiny (a little higher odds for those who had prior pregnancies) and also tiny even with IVF at that age. And the odds of birth defects are exponential - or risks to your own health. Arguing by the single example of someone you know who had a kid that age is not logic based. I don’t get the people who think unrealistic optimism is being supportive.
I'm sorry, I'm just reciting from factual life experience. I am not promoting anything. All I am saying, or have said, is that people in my family have done it bumping up against 50 and I know of people that did have a kid at 50. I'm sorry you don't know of anyone in your circle that has never had this happen, but don't shoot down the rest of us who have.
Fine that someone or a few in your family have and you have extremely unique genes. The odds of most anyone getting pregnant and carrying to term and having a healthy baby is minuscule. It’s actual cruel to perpetuate that it’s “normal” or a regular thing.
So I should just keep my own life experience to myself because it’s cruel to perpetuate this information? This is inane.
