[/quote] +1 There's a perspective among some (white, Christian) adoptive parents that any home in the United States is better than any home in the child's country of origin. But that's not always true, and I think it's worth interrogating whether these folks did more harm than good by removing Huxley from his home culture, language, and whatever supports he could have received in a Chinese foster home (which is increasingly the model).
