So on the flip side, what’s the solution? I’m not abusive but I’m way way past my breaking point. My kids are not doing well, I’m not doing well and we spend most of the day crying. Work has us working longer hours than normal and my kids are all under 5. We rented my parents an apartment near by and they came to help us. They come for like an hour or two a day. They trash the house and amp up the kids and then it’s even more work for dh and I. We are still paying a nanny who won’t come. I’ve never felt a rage like this before but I pretty much have to run away from my kids nonstop. I want to spank them for no reason and would love to just scream and scream. I’m on a high dose of antidepressants so no help there. I just don’t get how everyone thinks we can just keep going working nonstop without daycare? I’m so done and just want to run away.
PP please change something. I know its really really hard, I feel a bit like you but not as extreme. My spouse and I are both essential and work out of the home. I have been able to use some leave to cover the few hours a week we need of childcare ( shift work) What helped me immensely was letting go of the MCPS daily requirements. We were zooming every day, at different times, doing assignments on different platforms, It was so frickin hard, that was the worst part of my day.I made a decision to cut out zoom twice a week and not do all the assignments. We literally zoom for math 3x a week now and do the exit ticket that takes 5 mins. I want the teacher to know my kid is alive and well, but the other stuff was taking to much mental energy. Could your parents take your kids out for a walk instead of staying in the house maybe? Could the Nanny come for an hour a day and wear a mask and take the kids out? If you are paying her for a full day she cant begrudge coming for an hour. This would get you an hour of quiet and the kids an hour of fresh air and exercise.
