Destroying a wonderful local bike trail and many people’s homes and neighborhoods just so you can get from Silver Spring to Bethesda in 20 minutes vs 45 doesn’t make it worth it. All you care about is your being able to get around quickly. You give absolutely no thought to the homes and neighborhoods that had to be destroyed to accommodate you. You’re a bully, abled by eminent domain.
Have you ever heard of winning a battle but losing the war? I was not, and am not, a PL supporter. But at some point you have to move on. Sometimes when you continue to fight, fight, fight you end up bloodying yourself. Now look at our two options: The project falls apart and we're left with broken streets and an ungodly debt to the federal government. Or it eventually goes forward, but ends up costing us far more than it should have - plus the incalculable damage done to Maryland and MoCo's reputation in the business community. What corporation in its right mind would sink a massive investment in our area, after seeing this?
