The worry with COVID is community spread- the likelihood that you will pick it up doing something casual like eating in a restaurant or shopping at the mall. If the deaths and large portions of the cases are in nursing homes (where residents tend to be in the community much less, if at all) community spread is less likely. To some extent it's also about who the virus impacts the most- if it is indeed elderly people, we can care for them, provide support for them to be in the community less, while viable treatments and vaccines are developed. It is *not* immoral to worry about about our society and economic future- people are suffering from job loss, which does enormous long term damage to families and communities. It's immoral *not* to talk about the effects of poverty, deterioration of our children's education, and the enormous stress and anxiety that families are under right now.
