Elon. A secret gem.
Elon grad here and I agree!
Elon has an ever growing reputation. When I went there, it was a combination of kids from the Northeast, Mid Atlantic and NC. They recruited heavily in the DC, Philly, NYC, Boston metro areas. Some of my closest friends from college grew up in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. My roommate was a business/finance major. Long story, but she's now a teacher. She worked in business in NYCity for a few years, but found teaching to be her true calling. My friends from Elon are working in all types of jobs. Several of us work in govt contracting (with Comms degrees!), in marketing and sales, as writers, actors, doctors and physical therapists. The study abroad was phenomenal when I went, so I'm sure it's even better now. There are so many opportunities on campus for volunteering (everyone does it), extra learning activities, sports for non sports people, internships, etc. Greek Life was big when I was there, but not sure if people still do that or not. It's located in a sort of smaller town in between Raleigh and Greensboro, called Burlington. I was just back there a few months ago and Burlington has everything you would need and more. I remember going to Furman a few times for events, and it felt smaller and a little more insular than Elon. I don't know much about St Joe's.
