We certainly would have a bigger house and wouldn't be just now starting to get to the point where we don't live paycheck to paycheck.  As others have noted, debt is a huge drag on quality of life, and it can limit your career choices and otherwise make you f-ing miserable.  I have a very happy life, but it would be happier without the debt.  He needs to think about his future priorities.  Does he want to own a home, have a family, save for retirement, etc.  These are the things that will be more difficult or impossible with massive debt.[/quote]
