I think modern firefighters and police--especially those in specialized units--in big cities are increasingly college-educated. I know some well-educated NYPD officers (many of them specialize in a certain type of crime, e.g., white collar crime) and well-educated firefighters (especially in CA, where they need people to direct response to these massive wildfires and who understand how to track these fires and manage resources).[/quote]
