My Dad has been in recovery (AA) my entire life and from what my mom said, he was never abusive or a jerk when he drank. In my experience there are assholes and narcissists who happen to be alcoholics. They are awful whether drinking or sober. [/quote] No problem. My husband is most definitely not an abusive drunk.
