I think yelling can be fine when it's used productively. All things being equal, being competitive is more fun than getting blown away. And the only way the kids are going to be competitive is if they do what they are supposed to be doing based on what they've been instructed to do in practice. There's a huge difference between yelling instruction (fine) and berating kids (never fine). As for yelling per se, let's not pretend that this is a recent phenomenon. The Bad News Bears came out in 1976. Neither Walter Matthau's or Vic Morrow's characters would ever be mistaken for Mr. Rogers... [/quote]
