In many areas (esp in NoVa) the alternative, absent SFH only zoning, would be several more units on the lot - either THs or a multifamily building. That would provide more housing in desirable places (so helping with economic segregation, at least in some places) and with sustainability (fewer sq ft per person would be less energy per person, plus more people closer to transit/jobs)[/quote]
