I always let little kids and families sit, whether it’s the bus, metro, whatever.  Kids are little, are just learning balance, get smushed by bigger passengers all around them, and are more prone to freak outs. Their parents are holding and managing more stuff. You’re a grown person with none of these challenges. Unless you have some reason that you need to sit, please get up for families. [/quote]

Wow!  I’ve traveled with my two kids before - one is 8 - and people always offer to help me even if I feel I am managing just fine.  I let my kids sit and I’ll stand.  It is safer for them to sit.  They could get mused, someone could fall on them, they could fall.  So much better for them to be in a seat.  Thank you to everyone who has been so kind.

When I am not with my children I will give up a seat as needed.[/quote]
