Any seasoned vet will tell you that uncontrolled, and uncontrollable, urination is a huge sign that it is time to do the right thing for your dog and put it down. Dogs feel immense shame when they are going in your house and can’t help themselves. I’ve been there with many dogs over the years, and have made the mistake of waiting too long once or twice because it’s so hard.
Any vet who would suggest euthanasia before looking into the medical cause(s) of the urine leakage shouldn't be in practice. My dog started leaking urine during her sleep shortly after her spay. She was a young puppy at the time. You seriously think we should have put her down over that? No way, not when the solution for her was to provide her with clean, washable bedding and absorbent pee pads. Op's dog probably has a different issue than my dog did, that doesn't mean that there isn't an equally livable solution for her, too. Our dog is a much adored, beloved princess in our home, btw.
