Reasons not to go to Burgundy: your child has a LD, anxiety, ADHD, or other special needs.  The school doesn’t have the size and infrastructure to support this and there is a good chance your child will be counseled out.  Also, if your child lacks executive functioning skills, know that there is a lot of unstructured time at the school.  Finally, if your child has been bullied in the past, please be aware that there are a lot of transitions between classes and unsupervised outside time in general.  The classes are very small — so think about whether that is a good fit for your kid.  If he/she doesn’t make friends easily, it can be socially isolating.

If your child is a self-starter, loves small classes, and is interested in the environment and social issues, Burgundy is a great school.  I also found the parents to be pretty amazing.

We left because one child needed a more challenging environment and the other needed more support.  When we compared our needs to the cost, leaving was the right choice for us. But our children had some amazing years at Burgundy and made fantastic friends.
