I know a lot of really great MCPS teachers who could afford to live in Montgomery County but chose Frederick for the schools. This speaks volumes for me.
And I know a lot of MCPS teachers who send their own children to MCPS, so that balances it out.
Not really.... Plenty of people have their kids go where they work, that's just to facilitate easy coordination of school days.... But for these parents to choose Frederick over Montgomery, and they teach in Montgomery, and they *could* afford to live where it's "nicer" (ew, I would die if I had to drive 270), that shows something poignant.
What is poignant about MCPS teachers living in Frederick County even though they have enough money to live somewhere in Montgomery County? I must be missing something here.
^PP is insinuating that they think Frederick schools are better and that's why they live there so their kids can go there even though they could afford MoCo. I would seriously question where in MoCo can this teacher afford to live. Is all of MCPS great? Of course not. Just as I am sure not all of FCPS is great. But since Frederick county is a heck of a lot cheaper than MoCo, teachers can probably afford to live in the very nice parts of Frederick which usually equates to the better schools whereas a teacher could not afford to live in Bethesda or Potomac and send their kids to Whitman or Churchill. The best of FCPS no doubt is better than some of the lower performing MCPS schools, but a blanket statement of "FCPS is better than MCPS" is ridiculous.
