As some of you may already know, he was assaulted outside his neighborhood restaurant/bar (across the street from his condo - think of Cheers for Bud) by a group of individuals at 11:30pm on Wednesday night. Apparently the altercation started inside with arguing but the assault happened outside. We talked to the police and they have the puzzle almost finished, all assailants have been identified and they are just collecting more evidence. We expect them to make arrest in the next few days. So the arrests are coming at least. Glad D.C. metro is on it quickly. Also there's a Gofundme for his wife and teenage son (he had two older adult children as well) - https://www.gofundme.com/1n7nudzdxc
Why would there be a Gofundme? I would assume a well-paid Senate staffer would have life insurance.
There was a GoFundMe after that White House staffer got run over as well. The wife got $430K. https://www.gofundme.com/jakebrewer https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/dc/gofundme-goal-reached-for-wh-staffer-killed-in-accident/203083215 Life Insurance will pay off the mortgage, but every day expenses and a college fund (or help the older children with a good start in life) no.
The large amount got me curious. Gofundme doesn’t say this, but a news article says this of his death: The staffer, identified as Jacob Thomas Brewer, 34, of Alexandria, died after his bicycle went out of control at a sharp curve, crossed the double yellow lines and collided with an oncoming vehicle in the Mount Airy area around 3:40 p.m., according to Howard County police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
