NP. Congrats to the PP’s kids because those are wonderful MAP scores. I am sure it was very disappointing to miss the magnets. I wonder if MCPS is doing a CoGAT to MAP correlation. So a pretty high CoGAT ( 95%) and a very high MAP (280!) would tell them a bright child was somehow getting enrichment to match their ability. But a very high CoGAT ( 99%) and a good but lower MAP would tell them a child was missing the enrichment they might need. OP might want to ask for more than MAP scores when searching for a pattern here.
This is such a great point. MAP scores demonstrate exposure to material, not raw intelligence. I have no idea whether MCPS is looking for kids with a disconnect between those two scores, but it would be a smart move. Yes, it would mean kids like PP's, who have very high scores but are not outliers at their home schools, would stay at home schools receiving enriched instruction, but I think that's where we are ending up anyway. The emphasis at this point appears to be on kids who would stand out from the crowd, whether at Col. Lee or at Pyle.
