It's not that I doubt the existence of kids who are profoundly gifted.  I question your portrayal of your DD on this forum.  If she had a team of psychologists testing her at an early age and had teachers who found her so far beyond the curriculum that they had no idea how to even approach her, then there's no way you would imagine that there are tons of kids out there just like your DD.  If your DD is as gifted as you claim, you're being weirdly disingenuous about the whole thing.  The smartest kid in the grade is probably reading Harry Potter in 1st or K.  It wouldn't at all strike you as odd if your kid is sitting next to that kid, reading War and Peace or some other full-fledged adult novel?  I mean, really?  [/quote]
