So who is the most persecuted group in the world today? Not in 1941, not in 1960, now? And can we have one for racial and one for religious reasons? Is it Muslims? Sikhs? Jews? I think it is Orthodox Christians. Please explain why I am wrong? So I don't mess up the trade with the Middle East? Is that why newspapers barely report about it? Funny how Protestants don't count Orthodox Christians as Christians. Nothing changed since the crusades.
Are you citing 1941 to try to discredit the notion that Jews today continue to be targeted? That's shameful. Globally, I don't know, but in the US Jews experience more hate crimes per capita than any other minority group, according to the FBI. That is NOW, not in 1941 or 1960. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fbi-hate-crimes-up-new-data-shows-rise-in-anti-semitic-hate-crimes/ Oh -- we're also the most targeted minority group in Canada, on a per capita basis. https://www.jpost.com/Diaspora/Antisemitism-rises-in-Canada-Jews-remain-most-targeted-minority-group-573302
What a moronic thing to say. I had two grandfathers in concentration camps. The linked article talks about the Middle East and other countries and about today. Where do you get the idea of discrediting the Holocaust? Orthodox Christian persecution doesn't take away from Jewish suffering, but again we are talking about today. Do you know why in Europe we talk about the Holocaust all the time? Why there would be outrage if Germans stopped teaching their own children about it in schools? Not because kids today are to blame for it, but they will be to blame if it happens again. Let's talk about persecution today of Christians in the Middle East, why are you so stuck on hate crimes here? Topic is something else entirely, and I am not OP. US and Canada, sure, but is it that hard for you to read a few articles about the world today? Do you even realize that there were concentration camps during WWII for Orthodox Christians? Still not on par with the Jewish persecution, but very much the truth. I am the one that posted that the world never talks about Jewish persecution in every single century in Europe! And how that is shameful. But, again, talking about today does not minimize the facts of yesteryear's nor what is happening in the US. Christians persecuted today are among the poorest people in the world, why is this not in the news? For exact reasons the U.S. turned ships of fleeing Jews during WWII away, it is bad for the economy and nobody cares about some far away, maybe not quite "white" people. Don't even get me started of Egypt having black slaves well into 19th century, and persecutions of Sudanese and their own black population. Nobody in their right mind would try to discredit the Holocaust, but why aren't you able to read about TODAY? You do understand that hate crimes in the US and Canada are bad, but not on par with persecution and mass murders around the world?
Your post is totally jumbled, so I'm not clear on what your point is. However, let me make a few things clear: 1. I am Jewish, as is my husband. We both have relatives who died in the Holocaust and others who survived it. My great grandparents escaped pogroms in Russia and Ukraine to come to NYC in the 1910s. I am well aware of Jewish persecution both then and today, so I'm not really clear on why you keep yelling at me about why I can't read about today. 2. I posted articles about Jewish persecution today, so again -- why are you accusing me of not being able to read about current events? 3. Nothing I said was meant to take away from or diminish persecution against Christians; I'm simply responding to a PP who asked for current statistics on persecuted groups. The reality is Jews remain the most common victim of hate crimes, per capita, in the US, Canada, and most of Europe. That, again, is not meant to minimize what is happening to other groups (Christians in the Middle East, Uighurs in China, Tibetan Buddhists, etc.), but many posters on this thread have questioned whether Jews are "really" being persecuted. I was trying to correct that notion.
